Housing First Minnesota, the state’s leading voice for housing, recognized Sen. Jordan Rasmusson (R-Fergus Falls) and Rep. Spencer Igo (R-Wabana Township) as recipients of the 2025 Legislator of the Year awards. The honor recognizes legislators for their efforts in promoting housing affordability and homeownership opportunities for everyone, everywhere.

Senator Rasmusson has been a leading advocate for housing policy in the Minnesota Senate. At a pivotal time for Minnesota’s housing market, Senator Rasmusson is a voice for affordability, housing choice, and the next generation of homebuyers.

As the co-chair of the House of Representatives’ Housing Committee, Representative Igo has been instrumental in elevating the industry’s top priorities and promoting bipartisan reforms to grow homeownership opportunities.

“Senator Rasmusson and Representative Igo have been tireless advocates for solutions that reduce barriers, expand housing supply, and keep the dream of homeownership within reach for Minnesotans,” said Mark Foster, vice president of legislative and political affairs. “Their results-oriented approach — grounded in affordability, predictability, and common-sense regulation — embodies the leadership Minnesota needs to address our growing housing shortage.”

The awards were presented to the legislators last week during Housing First Minnesota’s annual Building Industry Gala at Mystic Lake Center. The event celebrates the housing industry and recognizes industry members for their excellence in building and remodeling homes for Minnesotans.
