The Builders Association of the Twin Cities’ (BATC) parent organization, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), has elected Shawn Nelson, [New Spaces][1], a Life Director and named Frank Kottschade, North American Realty, a Senior Life Director to that organization. Life Directors and Senior Life Director are permanent voting members of NAHB.
To be eligible as a NAHB LIfe Director, members must have served as a voting director for ten years, have attended at least two board meetings annually as well as receive a recommendation from their local association (BATC). Senior Life Directors are named after an additional decade of at least twice a year attendance at Board meetings.
Nelson, who currently serves as Builder Vice President for BATC, has been active in BATC and NAHB for 15 years. He will be BATC’s President in 2014, and is past chair of its Remodelers Council. A second-generation remodeler, Nelson’s firm, New Spaces, is located in Burnsville and is one of the largest remodeling firms in the region. Both BATC and NAHB benefit greatly from Nelson’s talents and commitment to a healthy building and remodeling industry locally and nationally.

Kottschade is the President of North American Realty in Rochester. He has been a member of NAHB for 33 years, and has served as a voting director for 20 years. He is a Past President of the Rochester Area Builders Association, the Builders Association of Minnesota, and a member of the Builders Association of the Twin Cities (BATC), where he serves on the Public Policy Committee.
