Local Remodelers Honored for Excellence
The Builders Association of the Twin Cities (BATC) and it’s BATC Remodelers(sm) Council hosted a gala banquet Thursday, June 27th at the Nicollet Island Inn in Minneapolis to announce the winners of their 32nd Annual Remodeler of Merit Awards(sm) (ROMA). At the same time BATC announced the 2013 Remodeler of the Year. More than 200 guests were in attendance. (Photo above is of the Schrader & Companies Total House over $500,000 winning entry.)
BATC Remodeler of the Year
The Remodeler of the Year award is one of three most coveted honors given to BATC members (the Builder and Associate of the Year being the other two). This award is bestowed upon the remodeling firm that has achieved the highest ratings on trust, communications, loyalty and ethics as judged by other BATC members with which they do business and their clients.
2013 BATC Remodeler of the Year
CN Ostrom & Son, Inc., Excelsior, Minnesota
CN Ostrom and Son Remodeling has been remodeling homes in Minneapolis and the western suburbs since 1954, and under the leadership of President Kathe Ostrom CR CAPS since 1994. The firm provides full remodeling services for their clients, whether a small bathroom or a whole house renovation. Ostrom is committed to providing every client with a positive and rewarding remodeling experience. “Kathe was always accessible and very good at communicating. We are thrilled with our new home!” say her clients, the Cohens.
ROMA Awards
The 2013 ROMA awards included 86 entries in 22 remodeling categories which ranged from kitchen and bath to additions, lower levels, and total house. Designed to honor the professional remodeler members of BATC Remodelers(sm) Council for excellence in the work they do, the awards recognize creativity, design, and the remodeler’s ability to meet the client’s requirements. Entries were completed online by uploading before and after photographs, floor plans and design statements explaining the challenges and needs of the client, solutions devised by the remodeler, and the success of the project.
Judging for the 2013 ROMA Awards was completed by a panel of remodeling professionals from the Home Builders Association in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
“Our Remodeler of Merit Awards honor the very best of the region’s remodeling,” says JoLynn Johnson, 2013 BATC Remodelers council chair and owner of Crystal Kitchen Center a remodeling firm and kitchen showroom based in Crystal. “There’s nothing like knowing your project was selected as a winner by other remodelers who understand the challenges and unique needs of remodeling clients.”
Out of 30 remodeling firms which entered the competition, 16 companies took home honors. McDonald Remodeling earned three awards including winning the Bathrooms over $75,000, Decks/Porches, and Interiors from $75,000 to $200,000 categories. Five companies took home two awards each: Bluejack Builders (Bathrooms under $35,000 and Owners’ Suite/Bedroom), John Kraemer & Sons (Additions over $250,000 and Kitchens over $175,000), Kulh Design Build (Kitchens $125,000 to $175,000 and Lower Level under $125,000), TreHus Builders (Bathrooms $35,000 to $75,000 and Special for their home exterior entry), and Vujovich Design Build (Interiors over $200,000 and Lower Level over $125,000).
