BATC Awards Gala, BATC Golf Open, the new Builders WareHouse, plus Fall Parade of Homes Dream Homes Help the BATC Foundation Raise Funds

The BATC Foundation, the charitable arm of the Builders Association of the Twin Cities (BATC) has had a successful fall, raising over $87,550 to continue their efforts building and remodeling homes for area families in need.

September’s Parade of Homes and Remodelers Showcase is the Foundation’s most visible fund-raiser, and brought in more than $41,000 for the Foundation. During the popular home tours, the Foundation selects a handful of new homes and remodeling projects as Foundation Dream Homes and Dream Remodeled Homes. Visitors to these exceptional residences are asked for a $5.00 donation at the door, all going to support the work of the Foundation. This fall, three new homes (a $1.870 million dollar home in Chaska by Nor-Son; a $1,994 million dollar home in Wayzata by Charles Cudd De Novo; and a $2.18 million dollar home in Afton by Divine Custom Homes) and three remodeled homes (a tear down in White Bear Lake by Cates Fine Homes; another tear down in Edina by Elevation Homes, and a whole house remodel in Tonka Bay by AMALIA G Construction) welcomed thousands of visitors at $5 each to help in the Foundation’s work.

BATC Foundation also hosted its first ever Golf Open on September 24th at the Legends Golf Club in Prior Lake. The sold-out event raised $14,280 from participants and sponsors. The biggest single donation came from the Wells Fargo hole contest, which raised $1,154 from attendees and was matched with a $1,500 contribution from Wells Fargo Home Mortgage and Private Bank Minnesota.

A few days later on September 28th, the Foundation opened its first ever Builders WareHouse sale. With thanks to Gary Kirt and the staff at Bell Mortgage, the Builders WareHouse is an online and occasional warehouse sale of items donated from BATC members. Products for sale include building materials like kitchen tile, windows, doors, and lighting fixtures, plus model home furnishings and accessories. A total of $3,500 was raised on the one-day sale. The Builders WareHouse will continue to sell donated items on an occasional basis. To be notified of upcoming sales, send your email address to builderswarehouse@batc.org.

Finally, at its second annual silent auction during the 2013 BATC Awards of Excellence Gala held on October 24th at the Lafayette Club in Minnetonka Beach, over 450 members bid on over 60 donated items, raising a total of $22,600. The auction items were posted online prior to the Gala, pushing minimum bids up on items that ranged from sports and music tickets to a full home theater. A full list of donors is at the end of this release.

Fund raising isn’t over for the year. On November 14, the BATC Foundation will be participating in “Give to the Max,” the day of online giving set aside to support Minnesota charities. To support the BATC Foundation, visit www.givemn.org between now and November 14.

With brimming coffers, the Foundation is setting out on an aggressive build plan. First, the Foundation will be partnering with ReBuilding Together Twin Cities on a couple of short term projects between now and the end of 2013. Rekindling the relationship from 2012, ReBuilding Together Twin Cities is bringing the Foundation several clients who need their homes updated with window replacements and repairs.

Then, in early in 2014, the Foundation will begin a new partnership, working with Special Spaces Minneapolis, a non-profit that supports children who have serious medical conditions. The Foundation is launching the relationship with a children’s bedroom design project, asking local designers to design a bedroom that is a child’s dream come true. The chosen design will be the first of a series of children’s rooms the Foundation will complete over the coming months.

BATC Foundation is a 501c3 charitable organization that works in partnership with others to revitalize communities, create safe, quality, affordable housing, and to promote education opportunities through scholarships.
