BATC’s Communications and Trade Show Earn Kudos from NAHB

The Builders Association of the Twin Cities (BATC) has been recognized for its outstanding work by the Executive Officers Council (EOC) of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). BATC earned two Association Excellence Awards (AEA), one for communications with its members and the other for its annual industry Trade Show.

“It’s gratifying to have the hard work and professionalism of BATC’s staff recognized by our national affiliate,” said BATC Executive Director, David Siegel. “I’m honored to lead a staff with such a strong commitment to excellence in all aspects of the work we do, and winning these awards is just icing on the cake.”

In the category Communications — Best Brochure/Print or Electronic, BATC’s submission was for its Events E-Newsletter and accompanying mailed card deck to announce upcoming events and opportunities for members. As the home building and remodeling market rebounds, its members’ time and attention is limited. By combining a fun print program with a concise online newsletter, BATC is able to reach members in the manner they prefer. See the submission online here.

BATC’s second award was for the 2012 Builders and Remodelers Show (BRS) under the category Best Home or Industry Trade Show. The largest industry trade show in the upper midwest, BATC’s BRS brought together over 200 exhibitors of products and services with 1,000 builders, remodelers, architects and interior designers at the Minneapolis Convention Center in February. In addition to an impressive amount of business connections being made, the BRS is the second largest revenue producer for the Association (behind the Parade of Homes). The Association Excellence Awards is an annual program designed to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of state and local home builders’ associations and executive officers in the field of association management. EOC membership is comprised of the staff executives who direct more than 750 NAHB-affiliated state and local home builders’ associations representing more than 140,000 home builders in communities across the United States.

BATC earned two of the 42 awards in 17 categories in the program. The awards were announced in May, with winners receiving their trophys at the NAHB’s Fall Board meeting in Seattle this September.

“The winning entries will become part of the online EOC Idea Loan File so that other executives and associations across the country can access and learn from them in order to provide better service to their own members and community,” said Tim Minton, president of the EOC and executive vice president of the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County, NC. “These awards are well deserved and represent a true showcase of the outstanding work of home builders’ associations around the country.”
