Artisan Home Tour by Parade of Homes Opens June 7th, 2014

The Builders Association of the Twin Cities (BATC) has added a new, ticketed home tour to its portfolio of Parade of Homes properties. Named the Artisan Home Tour, the event features 25 artisan-quality homes open to tour June 7-15, 2014. Like the Dream Homes featured in each Parade of Homes tour, Artisan Homes are designed and constructed with the highest level of architectural integrity, top quality craftsmanship, and exceptionally high finish level. Each was vetted by an architectural review panel to qualify for the tour.

Artisan Homes are open Saturday and Sunday, June 7th and 8th, from noon to 6:00 pm; Monday through Thursday, June 9th to 12th from 2:00 to 8:00pm; and Friday through Sunday, June 13th through 15th from noon to 6:00 pm. TourTickets are priced at $30 at the door to visit all 25 homes (plus one home a second time) or $25 when purchased online at ArtisanHomeTour.org. Individual homes are also open to tour for $5 at the door. Tickets include a $10 (TourTickets) and $2 (single home) tax-deductible donation to BATC’s charitable arm, the BATC Foundation, which builds and remodels homes for families in need.

Full information is available online at ArtisanHomeTour.org, including illustrations, information and maps to all 25 homes, bios about all participating builders, and ticket sales. A complete Guidebook has been published and direct mailed to high-income households and included with the Summer issue of Artful Living Magazine. An e-book version will be viewable online, and a limited quantity will be available at each Artisan Home.

Easy Ticketing Makes Touring Simple

BATC has partnered with Utah-based Parade Craze for ticketing. Once a ticket has been purchased online, the buyer simply visits any of the 25 homes and provides his or her phone number or email. They will then receive a coded paper ticket with QR Code that will be scanned as they enter each home. The ticket can be loaded onto a smart phone or tablet easily through the Parade Craze app (available free at the app store for iPhone and Android systems). The Parade Craze app also includes information about all 25 homes, including comments section, and is tied to the phone’s mapping system for directions.

Homes Located Across the Region

The 25 homes are scattered across the Twin Cities. Six homes are located in Edina, three are in North Oaks and two each in Woodbury, Wayzata and Orono. Artisan Home are also featured in Afton, Eden Prairie, Lakeland, Maple Grove, Mendota Heights, Minneapolis, Minnetonka, Plymouth, Prior Lake and Woodbury. Visitors will discover homes that offer lakeshore living, residences with panoramic views and large homesites as well as in-fill homes that tuck beautifully into their established neighborhoods.

Architecturally Distinct

Artisan Homes also offer a wide range of architectural styles. The currently popular Cottage style is well represented in various iterations from Alpine Cottage (#25), to storybook stone (#3). Home #20 is rooted in Prairie while #10 shows definite contemporary assets. For the more traditional minded, Home #13 shows off Country French styling. Visitors can see two Shingle Styles (#21 and #15), plus Home #6 in South Minneapolis mimics its older neighbors perfectly.

Ticket Sales Benefit BATC Foundation

A portion of every ticket is donated to the BATC Foundation. The charitable arm of BATC has been helping local families for 20 years. Composed of BATC members and supporters who contribute time, materials and expertise to help build, repair, and remodel housing, the Foundation’s goal is to provide safe and affordable housing for people in need. Their most recent projects included building a new Universal Designed home for Zack Mohs, a young man injured in a hit and run accident; and partnering with Special Spaces to design and build a truly special bedroom for Eli, a toddler battling ALL (Acute Lymphatic Leukemia).

Produced by BATC

As with all Parade of Homes events, every home on the tour has been built by a member of BATC. Each BATC member must sign a code of ethics and has access to valuable resources and information from BATC and its state and national affiliates.
