Even in Minnesota, new homebuyers are looking to add unique and comfortable outdoor rooms and landscaped spaces when they build. From outdoor kitchens to fireplaces and fire pits; patios to water features, outdoor living hardscapes have become de rigueur for new homes at almost every price point.
The Parade of Homes Guidebook has included an Outdoor Living section this fall to showcase some of the newest ideas for outdoor rooms and spaces. The section also shows off the work of BATC and its members in rebuilding the iconic KARE 11 Backyard this spring. The new Backyard includes a pergola-topped conversation lounge with an enormous stone fireplace, a bubbling pond-less waterfall, and a fully equipped outdoor kitchen.
Parade of Homes visitors will be able to tour the completed backyard (Parade entry #11) every Saturday during the tour from noon to 4:00 pm. And, online visitors to ParadeofHomes.org will be able to download a free BATC/KARE 11 Backyard Cookbook. The cookbook includes dozens of grilled and picnic-appropriate recipes provided by KARE 11 on-air talent, BATC, and members of BATC’s design and build team.
