Reducing energy bills is a great reason to consider remodeling. And certifying a remodeling project with Minnesota’s Green Path is a smart way to start.

MN Green Path was designed as a common sense, affordable program that measures and certifies a new home’s energy efficiency, home performance, and green features, and has proven to be an achievable and transparent program that customers love. Now, MN Green Path is fully extended to remodeling.

Like the new-home program, MN Green Path for Remodelers begins with energy testing, in this case an energy audit to understand the home’s current energy efficiency. The remodeler works with each client to determine the best remodeling solutions to meet their energy-saving and green goals. Once the remodeling is complete, MN Green Path provides documentation about the energy and green features that have been incorporated into the home in the form of a Home Performance Report (HPR). Each HPR clearly denotes the home’s energy ratings (if the project included testing) and any green features included in the remodeling.

As the name implies, MN Green Path offers homeowners several levels of commitment, from taking the first step on the path to the rigorous road to Master Certification. Whichever path is chosen, the HPR will offer independent verification for the homeowner and for future buyers.
