Roseville, MN – Housing First Minnesota is proud to announce the 75th annual celebration of the Parade of Homes. Since its inception, the Parade of Homes has played a pivotal role in guiding Minnesota families in their homebuying process by showcasing new construction homes and the builders, remodelers, and trade partners that make them possible.

The Parade of Homes emerged from modest beginnings in 1948 when the then-Minneapolis Builders Association came together to showcase what new construction had to offer to prospective homebuyers. This first tour featured a single “Trend Home,” which was a collaborative effort between six builders that aimed to showcase the quality and innovation in the home construction industry. This initial event exceeded all expectations, drawing in an eager crowd of visitors.

Since then, the Parade of Homes has grown to two annual tours — one in the spring and one in the fall — featuring a wide variety of builders with hundreds of homes scattered across all regions of the metro area, with the Remodelers Showcase added to the home tour lineup in 1984. These popular and free events showcase the variety and opportunities available in new homes and remodeling for families across the extended metro region. Housing First Minnesota launched the Artisan Home Tour by Parade of Homes in 2014, a ticketed tour of high-end homes and remodeled homes. The Twin Cities Parade of Homes remains the largest and longest-running home tour in the United States, attracting more than 200,000 visitors annually.

”The success of the Parade of Homes has helped shape the very cities we call home,” said James Vagle, CEO of Housing First Minnesota. “For 75 years the tour has invited families and friends to be inspired by homes of all sizes and prices and showcased the benefits of homeownership in our community. Organizations across the United States look to our Parade of Homes as the premier home tour event in the country”

This fall’s tour will run from Sept. 9-Oct. 1 with homes open Thursdays-Sundays from 12-6 p.m. The public is invited to join in several community events throughout the Twin Cities metro before and during the tour to celebrate the milestone anniversary. Events will include a brewery bash and community pop-up events on the tour. These events will serve as a testament to the Parade of Homes’ commitment to celebrating homeownership for all Minnesotans.
