ROSEVILLE, MINN. (May 2020) — Housing First Minnesota is proud to launch the Parade of Homes virtual preview today, Friday, May 15. Model homes will open with limited access on May 28.

For more than 70 years, the Twin Cities Parade of Homes has been the go-to resource for Twin Cities’ families to see, free of charge, the entire gamut of new homes and neighborhoods available across the region. That tradition will continue with this modified Parade of Homes. Through the virtual preview, homebuyers will be able to explore new homes all across the spectrum of price, style and location online at ParadeofHomes.org and then connect with those builders through the site to pursue their dream home.

The virtual preview will include hundreds of homes from the spring Parade of Homes available with expanded home profiles online showcasing virtual tours through video walkthroughs, 3D tours and photo galleries. As homebuyers explore the homes, they are able to schedule virtual or private appointments with the builders.

Starting May 28, model homes will safely reopen with access limited to 10 people at a time. Builders from the spring Parade of Homes will have homes open 12 – 6 p.m., Thursdays through Sundays through June 14. Following Gov. Walz’s Executive Order 20-56, homebuyers will be able to shop for homes in person with added safety precautions and social distancing measures, along with the additional virtual capabilities.

“We’re excited to launch the virtual preview to allow homebuyers to explore what’s available in new construction from the comfort of their homes this first two weekends, and then to have our builders’ retail models open under the banner of the Parade of Homes in the subsequent three weeks,” said David Siegel, executive director of Housing First Minnesota. “With record low interest rates and the short supply of housing inventory, builders are still seeing strong demand from homebuyers across the metro. For homebuyers that are ready to take that next step in finding a home, builders are ready to help while maintaining safety measures necessary at this time.”

All participating builders with open houses will complete a safety plan as mandated in Gov. Walz’s order and will be limiting the number of individuals within a model to 10 at a time. The full list of recommended safety tips can be viewed here.

Housing First Minnesota is committed to the safety of the community, and we urge everyone to follow CDC, federal and state recommendations regarding COVID-19.
