The Builders Association of the Twin Cities (BATC) has presented the Parade of Homes Remodelers Showcase since 1984. The tour is designed to connect area homeowners with remodelers, give them a chance to see real remodeling projects and learn how remodeling can help them remain in their community when their homes no longer fit their needs.

This Spring, visitors can tour 64 remodeled homes by 53 remodeling companies on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 31-April 2nd, from noon to 6:00 pm. The public is welcome to tour all the homes free of charge, with the exception of three Artisan Dream Remodeled Homes that request a $5 donation to support the BATC Foundation.

Guidebook Features all 61 Homes and More

The comprehensive magazine-style Guidebook features photos, maps and descriptions for all the homes to help visitors plan their tour. Guidebooks are free and can be picked up at any area Holiday Stationstore. There are also a variety of interesting articles to read for inspiration and information.

Readers will find the remodeling experience of five “real families” whose remodeled homes are on the tour this Spring, including the family shown on our cover. We’ve included interesting statistics from the Houzz kitchen and bath survey, and a calendar of informative and tasty events that several remodelers are hosting during the tour. Our style editor, Laura Marrinan has also shared some the favorite décor and design ideas from top local designers.

Artisan Dream Homes Benefit BATC’s Charitable Arm

Donations ($5.00 at the door) from visitors who tour our three Artisan Dream Remodeled Homes help the BATC Foundation build and remodel homes for area families in need. This Spring’s homes include #R29, a high-tech yet architecturally sound renovation that added over 2,000 gorgeous new square feet to a home in Minneapolis by Otogawa-Anschel Design-Build; #R43, an architectural masterpiece bringing authentic southern charm to a red brick Georgian home in Edina by Vujovich Design Build; and #R17, a century old Colonial revival that was restored to its original historic splendor in the Summit Hill Historic District of St. Paul by Woodstone Renovation.

Integrated Online Options
The comprehensive website at www.ParadeofHomes.org includes all 64 entries which are easily searchable by location, remodeler or project type. Integrated company pages provide more information about each remodeling firm, too. Our digital magazine link on the home page lets you read the entire guidebook online, and the Trip Planner is designed to save favorites and then map a convenient route between them. The mobile site at m.Paradeofhomes.org lets smart phone and tablet users find all the homes and remodeler information, and if you create a Trip Planner on your computer, you can access it on your mobile device as you tour.

Projects of All Types
Bathroom and kitchen renovations remain the top two most popular projects nationwide, and the Twin Cities is no exception, with 42 new kitchens and 21 new bathrooms, plus plenty more in the 18 main level remodels, 10 whole house renovations and eight teardowns. Visitors can see 31 main level remodels, 20 additions, eight lower level finishes, and 17 great room/family room projects. There are lots of gorgeous new bedrooms, mud rooms, offices, exteriors, porches and decks to tour, all showing the latest in design, materials, products and construction techniques from the region’s best professional remodelers.

Remodeled Homes Located Across the Extended Metro Area
Much of the Twin Cities is represented in this Spring’s Remodelers Showcase, with homes located in 27 cities across the metro region. There are 11 remodeled homes in Edina and eight in Minneapolis. St. Paul will have six homes open, Bloomington has four, while Apple Valley and Maple Grove have three each.
