In its 29th year, the Builders Association of the Twin Cities (BATC) is proud to present the Parade of Homes Remodelers Showcase. This Spring, visitors can tour 57 remodeled homes the final weekend of the Spring Parade of Homes. Homes are open Friday, March 18th from 1:00 to 7:00 pm and Saturday-Sunday, March 19-20 from noon to 6:00 pm. Entry to all the homes is free with the exception of three Dream Remodeled Homes that request a $5 donation to support the BATC Foundation.

Guidebook Features all 57 Homes and More

The comprehensive magazine-style Guidebook features photos, maps and descriptions for all of the homes to help visitors plan their tour. Guidebooks are free and can be picked up at any area Holiday Stationstore. There are also a variety of interesting articles to read for inspiration and information including our cover story featuring local Wit & Delight blogger, Kate Arends Peters. Peters graciously shared her family’s experience remodeling their home through her words and photos (including the cover).

We also share the stories of two families whose remodeled homes are on the tour in text and photos. Readers will find tips for stress-free remodeling and why to do business with professional remodelers; tips for saving energy from our Green Path sponsor, Xcel Energy; and trendy new products, finishes and accessories in the Style section. Readers can also check out the event calendar to plan their tour to include a wine tasting or informative seminar during the weekend.

Artisan Dream Homes Benefit BATC’s Charitable Arm

The Artisan Dream Remodeled Homes help the BATC Foundation build and remodel homes for area families in need by asking visitors to donate $5 at the door. This Spring, the Foundation selected three unique remodeled homes to feature. Artisan Dream Remodeled Home #R29 by Xpand, Inc. is a 50s rambler located in Orono and renovated for modern lakeside living. Home #R33 by AMEK Custom Homes is located in Wayzata and demonstrates how a fire-damaged home can be resurrected to retain its distinctive architecture while adding valuable square footage. Oslo Builders renovated an Edina mid-century modern home, #R45, to maintain all the original charm while bringing it beautifully into the 21st century.

Integrated Online Options

The comprehensive website at www.ParadeofHomes.org includes all 57 entries easily searchable on the map or by remodeler name or project type. The Trip Planner lets visitors save their favorites and then maps a route between selected homes. Integrated company pages provide more information about each remodeling firm. The mobile site at m.Paradeofhomes.org is fully integrated with the main site, and lets smart phone and tablet users search for remodeled homes, learn more about remodelers and take advantage of the Trip Planner. You can also view the entire guidebook online by using our Digital magazine link on the home page.

Projects of All Types

The remodeled homes on tour feature virtually every type of remodeling. Kitchen remodel (47 of them) remain the most popular projects to show. Visitors can see 14 additions, at least 27 baths, 10 lower level finishes, seven whole house remodels and two teardowns. There are several renovated bedrooms, mud rooms, offices, family rooms plus exteriors, porches and decks to tour, all showing the latest in design, materials, products and construction techniques from the region’s best professional remodelers.

Remodeled Homes Located Across the Extended Metro Area

Much of the Twin Cities is represented in this Spring’s Remodelers Showcase, with homes located in 25 cities across the metro region. There are nine remodeled homes in both Edina and Minneapolis. Apple Valley, Chanhassen, Stillwater and Woodbury each have three homes on the tour, while Bloomington, Eden Prairie, Lakeville, Plymouth, Shorewood and St. Louis Park have two apiece.
