Lennar Tops the List of Twin Cities Builders for 17th Year in a Row

Results from a recent survey by Housing First Minnesota show that Lennar – Minneapolis/St. Paul was the region’s top-ranked builder once again in 2022. Lennar has held the top spot since 2006. Rankings are based on annual gross revenue as reported by respondents for for-sale housing.

Together the Top 25 Builders accounted for $3.5 billion in gross revenue and 6,285 housing units in 2022. Of those housing units, 5,212 were single-family homes and 1,073 were townhomes or multifamily units. Lennar reported gross revenue at $859,551,233 for 1,224 single-family homes and 407 multifamily homes closed in the 2022 calendar year for a total of 1,631 total units.

In addition to Lennar, the top 10 homebuilders were D.R. Horton, Inc. – Minnesota with over $396 million in revenue and 792 housing units closed; Pulte Homes of Minnesota, LLC with over $394 million in revenue and 766 housing units closed; followed by M/I Homes with revenue of over $384 million and 742 units; Hanson Builders, Inc. with over $173 million and 366 units; Capstone Homes, Inc. with over $172 million and 397 units; Robert Thomas Homes, Inc. with over $150 million and 205 units; Creative Homes, Inc. with over $140 million and 217 units closed; Gonyea Homes, Inc. with over $122 million and 129 units; and JP Brooks Builders with over $72 million and 171 units closed.

Rankings are based on information provided by survey respondents. Each company has verified information to the best degree possible. Commercial construction firms building rental or senior housing were not included in this ranking.
