Results from a recent survey by the Builders Association of the Twin Cities (BATC) show that Lennar – Minneapolis/St. Paul was the region’s top-ranked builder once again in 2012.
Lennar has held the top spot since 2006. Rankings are based on annual gross revenue as reported by respondents for for-sale housing. Lennar reported gross revenue at $160 million, with 441 total housing units closed in the 2011 calendar year.

All of the top-five ranked builders are national firms with corporate offices located outside of Minnesota. Rankings changed slightly as Ryland Homes and DR Horton Homes swapped third and fourth place rankings. Following Lennar were The Pulte Group (marketing homes under both Pulte Homes and Centex Homes) with almost $120.5 million in revenue and 284 housing units closed, followed by Ryland Homes with $88.5 million revenue and 271 housing units, D.R. Horton-Minnesota with revenue of almost $72 million and 205 units, and Mattamy Homes at $70.3 million and 243 units.
Rankings are based on information provided by survey respondents. Respondent information is believed to be reliable. Each company has verified information to the best degree possible. Commercial construction firms building rental or senior housing were not included in this ranking. Streeter & Associates, Fieldstone Homes, Stonewood, LLC, and Wooddale Builders, all local residential builders which, according to Keystone Reports data, may have been included in the top 25, declined to participate.
